I really love the pleasant
sound of pendulum wall clock. I have a beautiful pendulum clock hung on the wall of my living room. But
with the passage of time it was slowly losing its
time and one day the brass and ebony pendulum of the
clock stopped swinging altogether. The sound that
reminds me to get out of the bed everyday and take
pies out of the oven was silent. The clock had timed
all my labor pains. All these years it reminded me
when to feed my babies and gave me the much needed
company in my empty house. My companion was ill and
I thought of sending him to see the doctor.
I searched for the clock
repairers in my city. Finally I gave a call. Next
day the clock repairer came and took away my most
priceless possession. I spent some anxious nights
eagerly waiting to see my friend again. After a couple
of days the clock repairer brought it back. Well the
clock was back but the beautiful ornate
brass key had been replaced by a pedestrian chrome
one. The clock was back again at its original place
and ticked bravely for approximately a year but got
silent again. Now it was hanging on the wall like
an ornament. I again lost my best companion. My dad
bought it over 50 years ago and all these years I
have grown up with the pleasant sound of pendulum
ticking after every passing hour.
For a couple of days
the pendulum remained motionless. But one day, I noticed
the pendulum rhythmically began to swing. Now it is
working well and to all my delight I am enjoying its
gentle ticking again. I think the clock must have
got tired and, after a break has started working again.
I am really grateful my best buddy is back.
