Alarm Clock - The Hen Will No Longer Wake You Up!

If you thought the humble clucking hen was enough to rouse late risers from deep slumbers, then why the need for the alarm clock? Well the hens rouse themselves and not humans. The late night party animals need the alarm bells to wake them up. For long, shaking us out of the bed has been a primary function of an alarm clock. With the passage of time, even the primordial sound of the alarm clock has changed its frequency, some loud enough to wake up the entire neighbourhood as well. From the terrible brrrring noise, it now generates even musical melodies to shake the lazy bones from the slumber party zone! All sorts of sounds-pleasant and unpleasant are resonant with different designed devices. Alarm clocks are also used as perfect reminders for ‘things to do’, heating the oven and doing laundry. They have become set timers for various odd jobs in homes and offices. It reminds us how much we humans need such gizmos to keep our lives going.

Nearly two centuries ago, the humble alarm clock made its debut with the intention of stir up lazy bones from their slumbers. Naturally these clocks are placed at the bedsides. They also can be preset for particular date and time as reminders, as human memory is no longer so powerful. The sound of music or loud rings has changed over the years. New alarm clocks are capable of creating an ‘up rising’ just like the Saturday night jam session at the pub! While it may wake one, others may get killed with the sound! Each one of us has a way to attract a particular alarm clock. While those who stay up late, are not the only party revellers but also internet surfers and movie watchers. Also, the typical 9-5 concept is no longer existent for people who work in shifts. Many people sleep at odd hours and need an alarm clock to wake them up. With new technology available new sounds have filtered our eardrums. Some of the most bizarre alarm clocks that have been made include:

1. Sonic boom-If you are not the kind who would wake up with sprinkling water or a tight slap, this is the right one to crack the bed.

2. Bomb Squad-For those who need an explosion to wake up!

3. Smell the bacon-If the sound is not enough, the smell of sizzling bacon from the device will rouse the deepest sleeper!

4. Run away alarm-It is smarter, if you do not wake up it drifts away and continues to brrring around the room till you spill out of the sheets.

5. Gun operated- you have to wake up and take the gun and shoot to stop the brrrrinnging.
